project details

Objective

Create an events calendar

Requirement

Design a usable, realistic product

project overview

Event calendars are used in every industry and are common ways to deliver large amounts of information. With so much detail and content, they are challenging to develop in a way that is useful while also being aesthetically pleasing to users.

Research & learning

I chose to complete a work for the National Air & Space Museum because it offered me a great deal of flexibility in potential designs.

I studied older calendars that were produced, and reviewed color palettes, typeface possibilities, and brochures.

I also reviewed images of both the interior and exterior of the facility and the Kennedy and Johnson Space Centers for inspiration. By combining what I learned, I was able to construct a design that would fit in with other materials that would actually have been produced by the institutions.

The final design captures the magnitude, power, and history of the United States space program. The white rocket contrasted against the black background is a compelling image which draws in all individuals.
