Dell Technologies Inc. is a fortune 500 company that provides personal computers and software among other business and personal technology equipment.

In preparation for a global engineering competition, Dell leadership required a new logo created that would represent the spirit of technology and teamwork.

Research & learning

Research began by examining the Dell team’s history and past projects. By doing so, I could develop an understanding of the organization and ensure a design was created that would accurately reflected the group personality.

The project stakeholders provided the rough specifications listed below:

          - Global audience

          - World Cup theme

          - Limited Color palette

          - Required text

          - Desire for a “technical theme”

Initial designs & prototyping

- Typeface

- Color palette

- Graphics

Initial designs focused primarily on color palette, typefaces, and the intermingling of the required theme elements. More than a dozen concepts were presented, each with variations of the components.

The final three designs chosen were complete with all required textual elements, a World Cup theme, and a “global World Cup” theme.

The final design was a slightly modified version of a finalist design which added hexagonal shapes to both sides of the soccer ball globe for a more balanced feel. The finished logo was used on promotional items including clothing, water bottles, and soccer balls.
