project overview
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a nonprofit organization that helps fulfill the wishes of children between the ages of 2 1⁄2 and 18 years old who have been diagnosed with critical illnesses.
In preparation for the opening of a new Connecticut headquarters location, the charity needed an illustrated version of the site to be used on all announcement collateral.
Research & learning
I have a personal connection to Make-A-Wish due to my own cancer battle. I began researching by reflecting on my own experience with the foundation, reviewing the company’s color palette and logo, and examining images of the new facility.
The project stakeholders provided the specifications listed below:
- Angle and view of the facility
- “Feel” of positivity
- How the design would be used
Design Choices
- Graphic style
- Level of detail
Initial designs & prototyping
Initial design concentrated on capturing the overall look of the actual building and representing it in a way that was upbeat, simplistic, and childlike.
final design
Final Design Choices
- Upbeat and childlike “feel”
- Appropriate detail
- Graphic angle
The final design accurately captured not only the physical appearance of the new headquarters location, but did so in a way that was friendly and inviting to children and their families.
